April 28, 2009
On April 3-5, NAAS was our third show of the 2009 Spring show season. Despite stiff competition in this level V show A Paca Fun Farm was admirably represented in the winner’s circle. All of our 13 alpacas ribboned, with 9 placing first or second.
Perhaps the most striking win at NAAS was the reserve championship banner going to SPA Adirondack, our fawn stud. This banner was remarkable because Adirondack is just shy or 4 years of age. Stacked up against the best fawn males from Ohio to Maine, it was Adirondack’s density AND fineness that gave him his well deserved 5th banner. Judge Jude Anderson actually took 4 fleece samples from low shoulder to belly to low hip. Consistent crimp AND fineness in these areas gave Adirondack the win over an outstanding field of fawn males in this level V show.

Brilliance’s April was the color banner winner for the second consecutive show. We have high hopes that April will continue her dominance of the female multi class at her next show at the MAPACA Jubilee.

The other blue ribbon winners were both the get (or extended get) of Silver Legend of KPR. A Paca Fun’s Black Shadow is one of high quality true black huacaya male produced by Silver Legend last Spring. Black Shadow’s fineness and uniform crimp structure were the keys to his success.

Silver Legend also had a granddaughter win a blue ribbon. Paragon’s Aya (our daughter Bari’s farm name) started her show ring career with a bang. Aya’s fleece is also exceptionally fine. Both Black Shadow and Aya were only 6 months old at NAAS.
Our next show is the 2009 MAPACA Jubilee. Sometimes the largest alpaca show in the world, we look for stiff competition at MAPACA, another test of the depth and quality of our breeding program. See you there! |
